Gerald Nelson Broadbent

July 4, 1926 — February 8, 2016

Gerald was born July 4, 1926 in Provo, Utah; the Son of Ransom Golden Broadbent and Madaline Anderson. He returned home to his Heavenly Father on February 8, 2016 to his Sweetheart Shirley Joy. Gerald married his sweetheart Shirley Joy Wanberg on February 6, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple and was sealed for all time and eternity, and now has joined her in Heaven. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 1959. After the military he worked as a TV repairman and also worked in the Solar business. He resided in Vista California for 30 years then retired and returned to Utah with his wife in December 1992. Gerald was active in the LDS church and worked in the Jordan River Temple with his wife for many years. He loved his church callings, was a very humble man and loved his Heavenly Father. He loved to keep his yard in perfect order and loved being outdoors. He was quite the reader and loved his old western movies. He was a huge sports fan and some of his favorites include BYU, The Green Bay Packers and The LA Dodgers. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend; he loved spending time with all of them and loved them dearly. He was an honest, hard working man and always made sure his family was provided for. He was a very compassionate, loving man who is greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Joy Broadbent; father; mother; and oldest son Rodney Scott Broadbent. He is survived by his 4 other children Glynda Walker (Jim), Shane Broadbent (Cherie), David Broadbent (Tammy), Troy Broadbent (Susie); 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
