Florence Clementina Croom Woodfield

September 25, 1924 — April 19, 2018

Surrounded by her family, a devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully on April 19, 2018 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah. At age 93, her mortal frame wore out but her mind, humor, and wit were intact to the end. Clementina was born on September 25, 1924 to Martin Herman and Hazel Shingleton Croom in Wilmington, North Carolina. Raised in challenging economic circumstances, she and her younger brother were encircled by a large extended family. The first to graduate from high school, Clementina moved to California to work but later returned to serve as an LDS missionary in the Southern States mission. Afterward, Clementina enrolled at BYU where she eventually met her husband, Norman. Together, they raised their family in Utah, California, and Texas as Norman pursued a computer career working on various space and military projects. In later years, Clementina enjoyed making beautiful handwork for loved ones, daily crossword puzzles in purple pen, and family history. She remained a faithful LDS church member her entire life, always willing to serve in any capacity, large or small. Married to Norman Ray Woodfield on April 4, 1951 at the Salt Lake Temple, they raised four sons and one daughter: Scott Norman (Linda), Jerry Allen (Christine), David Croom (Vivian), Susan Gunnell (Mark) and Brian Fred (Julie). Clementina is survived by her five children; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and her brother Marty. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman; daughter Janis; and her parents. Clementina is a rare gem whose exceptional wisdom and indelible memory remain with us as she moves on. Always kind, thoughtful, and perpetually optimistic, she used humor and wit to impart words of wisdom to her children, grandchildren, and associates. Simply, Clementina made happier the lives of all who have known her. She and Norman created an everlasting legacy extending beyond their mortal lives. We will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28th at 11:00 am at the Provo Utah Stake Center, 1315 E 900 S, Provo, UT. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Berg Mortuary, 185 E Center St., Provo and Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 am prior to funeral services. Interment will be at the North Ogden Cemetery where Clementina will finally join her husband. Place of Birth:Wilmington, North CarolinaPlace of Death:Provo, Utah
