He graduated from Pisgah High School in 1970, where his senior quote was "Life is too precious to be spent in this weaving and unweaving of false impressions." Raised near a bluff over the Tennessee River, Daniel was the quintessential Southern Gentleman. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971 and served his country with pride and valor in both the 82nd and 101st Airborne Battalions, and left service honorably as an E-6 Staff Sergeant, Special Forces. He was stationed in Korea, guarding the Demilitarized Zone. He married Eileen McKinnon on August 10, 1989, in Elko, Nevada, and gained three children, Shauna Bona (Robert Sobocinski), William "Alex" Simpson, and Angela Simpson Drumright (Charles). He worked for more than 30 years in the automotive industry as salesman, used car manager, and finance manager, and later for himself, as a wholesale dealer. He is survived by his wife; brother Loyd Suggs; sisters Faye Jackson, Jane Rollins (Jim), and Kathy Davis (Ron); several nieces and nephews; his children; and five grandchildren, Jeremiah Drumright (Jen), Sophia Bona-Layton, Tyler Behunin, Benjamin Drumright (Trystin), and Daniel "Alex" Behunin. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Brenda Suggs; brother-in-law Bill Jackson; a brother who died in infancy; and grandson Joseph Behunin. A celebration of Daniel's life will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 11 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, where viewings will be held on Friday, November 17, from 6-8:00 p.m., and Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment in the Benjamin Cemetery.
