Clive Don Wahlin

May 24, 1928 — August 28, 2014

Clive Don Wahlin "Cork" was reunited with his loving wife, Evonne, on August 28, 2014, after a short illness. Clive was born May 24, 1928, to Eric Waldemar "Walter" and Mattie Wahlin in Magna, Utah, where he was raised the youngest of six children. Clive loved his family and his Magna heritage as he spoke of them often and never missed an opportunity to drive family and friends through his hometown, telling stories and pointing out the old family home. For those who knew Clive growing up in Magna, he was, and always will be, known as "Cork," the significance of that name is unknown. After graduating from Cyprus High School in 1946, Clive enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Japan from 1946 to 1948. Upon returning from his military service he then attended the University of Utah where he met the love of his life, Evonne North. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1951 and enjoyed 59 wonderful years together before the passing of Evonne in 2010. Clive and Evonne raised five children which then led to Clive becoming the greatest Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather ever! At the time of his passing, Clive had 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Clive loved sports and was a great competitor; he was the Utah State Horseshoe Pitching champion for 17 years and was also a national contender, taking third place. After horseshoes, he became an avid golfer which he loved right up to the time of his passing. More than the game itself, Clive loved the associations he had with those he played, particularly his every Monday tee time with Hal Ford and Dick Shaffer. Clive served faithfully in many callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ward, Stake, and Temple service where he became known for his "root beer barrels." Clive is preceded in death by his wife, Evonne North Wahlin; parents, Eric Waldemar "Walter" and Mattie Wahlin; sisters, Ellen Newbold, Anne Vitale, and Georgia Bello; and brother, Waldemar "Bus" Wahlin. Survived by sister, Romaine Zito; children, Mike (Joy) Wahlin, Peggy (Cordon) Hunt, Brian (Rhonda) Wahlin, Don (Kristen) Wahlin, and David (Lisa) Wahlin. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014, Taylorsville Gardens 2nd Ward, 4252 S. Bennion Road, Taylorsville, with a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S.
