Clifford Henry Hogan

December 1, 1925 — February 11, 2018

Clifford Henry Hogan, 92, passed away on February 11, 2018 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born December 1, 1925 in Lake Point, Utah to Jerusha Yates and Arthur M. Hogan. Cliff enlisted in the Merchant Marines at the age of 18 and served from 1944 to 1946. He married his sweetheart Elsie Sophia Fox on July 11, 1946 in the Logan Temple. Dad framed houses in the early years of their marriage then worked at the Vitro Chemical plant for 20 years until they shut down. He then went to work for Kimball Elevator installing elevators until his retirement in 1985. Dad was a hard working man with many talents and skills. What dad didn't know he read and taught himself. He could make or fix anything and give it a second life. He enjoyed a well- groomed yard and passed many hours outside. He was a perfectionist and had a desire for things done just right. He enjoyed vehicles and kept his well maintained so they lasted way beyond their life expectancy. He had a generous heart and was a true teacher as he shared his knowledge with others. After mom's passing dad told us that loneliness was everything it was crack up to be. We were happy when dad and Arvella found each other. Arvella gave dad a purpose to get up in the morning again. They traveled, watched airplanes and birds, enjoyed a milkshake together and enjoyed many hours just visiting. They have had a very caring relationship for the last 18 years. Dad was blessed with wonderful next door neighbors, Richard and Vicky, who were my eyes and ears and were always there to help shovel snow and pass the hours visiting. Reverent rejoicing is had now as Cliff joins his wife Elsie; two sons, Bruce and Kevin; and other family members and friends at this reunion. He is survived by his children Karey (Ronald) Nay and Keith (Chris) Hogan; special friend Arvella Rigby; sister Erma Donahue; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018, 12:00 noon at the Kearns 10th Ward building located at 5025 West 4865 South, Kearns, Utah, where a viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10-11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
