Celia Thayne Ward

Celia Thayne Ward, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully April 14, 2015. She was born to Joseph LeRoy and Eliza Anne Avery Thayne in Salt Lake City, Utah,on August 11, 1924. After graduating from West High School, she attended Stevens-Henager College for secretarial training. She married Newel D. Ward February 4, 1943, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Her family meant everything to her. She loved her husband unselfishly. She was his only love and life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have all been blessed by her constant care and tender love. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which she magnified many callings. She loved the Lord and lived optimistically through the faithful assurance that "Everything will all work out." Celia is survived by her husband, Newel D. Ward of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter,Dianne Peck of Sandy, Utah; and sons, David L. (JannaLee) Ward of Rexburg, Idaho, and Clark N. (Stephanie) Ward of Herriman, Utah. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Of her siblings, Celia was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters: Richard (Beryl) Thayne, Howard J. Thayne, Baby Thayne, Donald Thayne, Leora Vivo, and Alice (George) Ward. Also by two daughters and a grandson: Connie (Glenn) Kesler, Margie (Terry) Carlston, and Tyler Carlston. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, in Taylorsville. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to services.
