Betty Leone Worthen Potter

January 27, 1922 — March 16, 2017

Betty Leone Worthen Potter, our cherished angel Mother, grandmother and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father and is reunited Together Again with her eternal sweetheart Willis Potter and loved ones. She was 95. Betty was the fourth of 12 children born to Leone McMullin and Joseph Manley Worthen. She attended South High School and LDS Business College. Betty married her sweetheart Willis Alma Potter for eternity March 27, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They began their life together on their farm in Talmage, Utah and later settled in Kearns, Utah. Betty was the wonderful Mother of 13 children. Her selfless life was devoted to her family and to her church. She loved her Heavenly Father and had a fervent testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and she lived it. Betty served valiantly in the temple attending four endowment sessions each week and sealing sessions with members of the Kearns 16th ward for many years, and also devoted years to indexing and family history. She faithfully served in many callings including Ward Relief Society President and typing Patriarchal Blessings after Willis was called to be the Stake Patriarch. Betty loved to play the piano and the organ and shared her talents often. She served about 62 years as ward and stake organist. She blessed her family with the love of music, teaching all her children and over 100 others to play the piano. Betty was always humble, prayerful, and loving to everyone. She filled our lives with music, hope, and tender memories. Betty's faithful words and selfless Christlike example is a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her life was one of quiet service and devotion. Her powerful influence and legacy will live on forever. She was truly an angel among us. Betty will be dearly missed by her children: Rodney Potter, Genevieve (Pete) Groesbeck, Dr Sterling (Mariella) Potter, Valerie (Paul) Buckman, Evelyn (Gerry) Cann, Pam (Roy) Brimhall, Marilyn (Rick) Hamblin, Ruthann (Jerry) Carter, Randall (Melanie) Potter, Debra (Brian) Fredrickson, Deanna Potter, her many grandchildren and her brothers James (Colleen) Worthen and John (Vicki) Worthen. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Willis and sons Steven and Vernon, four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, her parents, two sisters and nine brothers. We love you mom! You will be forever in our hearts until we meet again! May it be ever thus with you and Iand in the realms to be, we'll walk hand in hand together throughout all eternity." (from her husband's poem "May it Be Ever Thus"). We express our gratitude for those who have blessed her in any way through the years and for the care from CNS hospice.
