Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend was born the 5th child of 6 to Henry and Laura Manzanares in Monte Vista, Colorado on February 6, 1949. He was reunited with them in heaven on June 5, 2017. Pops was raised in Colorado and Utah. He graduated from Judge Memorial High School and then was drafted to the Army where he trained as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg. When he returned home, he attended the University of Utah receiving a degree in Agriculture. He also started his career at the University of Utah working there for 26 years until his retirement. Big Andy, aka Pops, was a true free spirit and loved everyone. During his time here, he enjoyed many things with us including but not limited to, Family, gardening, the outdoors, horseshoes, canning, camping, hacky sack, softball, hiking, soccer, beer, being a jokester, bike riding, cross country skiing, tubing, showing off his tattoo from the Army, swing dancing, being in the spotlight and staying young at heart. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his 2 sons, Andrew Jerry Manzanares II and Teddy Alfonso Manzanares; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Tiffany, Andrew Jerry III, and Jordanne; 2 great-grandchildren, Sabrina and Davina; 5 siblings, Sylvia, Paul (Joann), Ruben George (Bea), Willie and Henrietta (Danny); many nieces and nephews and extended family. We will love and miss you always Pops, "Take Time to stop and smell the roses". A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 2:00 5:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. A celebration of his life will be held the same evening from 6:00 9:00 p.m. at Germania Park Pavillion, 5242 South Murray Parkway Avenue (970 West).
