Alta Lucile Moesser Butt

Alta Lucile Moesser Butt, 96, passed away September 23, 2014, in Holladay, Utah. Alta was born to Franklin Dewey Moesser and Lucy May Ridd on March 31, 1918. On November 23, 1953, she married Walter John Butt, Jr., in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for nearly 38 years until Walt's death in 1991. They were the parents of two children. Alta was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before she was married, Alta organized the first Junior Sunday School in Hunter, Utah. She always had a love for teaching the four and five-year-old children. Alta was an excellent seamstress, sewing clothing for herself and her family as well as for her relatives and friends. She enjoyed being involved in making crafts for many people. She also loved to crochet and did so as long as her eyesight allowed. She bottled fruits, juices and pickles for many years. Many people received a bottle of her delicious grape juice over the years. Alta was a kind and giving mother who worked long and hard taking care of her family. She loved babies and was always thrilled to hold them and show them attention. In her later years, Alta was very active in temple work, participating in sealings and endowments for the dead - attending the temple three days a week. Alta is survived by her son, John (a.k.a. Wally); daughter, Nyla (Ross); grandchildren, Eric, Michelle, Michael and Ryan; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers and sisters, May, Berth, Vera, Amanda, Bill, Emery, Myrtle, Elva, Randy; and grandson, Jason. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 12:00 p.m. at the Murray 16th Ward chapel located at 619 W. 5750 S., Murray. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Murray 16th Ward chapel. Interment Valley View Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Alta's many wonderful care givers from Harmony Home Health, Bright Star Mountainside, and Holladay Healthcare for the kind and gentle care they gave Alta in her last few years of life.
