A. Blaine Buckner

Arthur Blaine Buckner passed away November 26, 2017 in South Jordan, Utah at age 89. He was born February 23, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Lamond Wayne and Fay Wanetta McDaniel Buckner. He married Mary Joanne Clark on September 14, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 65 years. He served in the Army as a paratrooper. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah. He worked 33 years at Sperry-UNIVAC as the lead mechanical engineer. He helped design the Sergeant Rocket launcher, a mail sorting machine for the US Post office , military communication towers located in Germany and the Philippines, and large main-frame computers for the military. He was an active member of the LDS church and held numerous positions including bishop and president of the Hunter Stake. He served in the Jordan River Temple for many years. He was always generous. He always had a very large garden. He enjoyed golf, camping, and traveling the world with Joanne. Blaine is survived by their children Kent (Rozella); Jeffrey (Elaine); Kelly (Ruth); Mary Jo (Kelly) Page; Steven (Shirard); 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings Fred (Faye), Sharron Nelson, Barry (Sharlene). Preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother Max. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at the Parkway 4th Ward building, 3407 W. 9625 S., South Jordan. Family and friends may call Sunday, December 3rd, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Monday, 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
